Presenter: Matthias Everhope

Howard Thurman was a great spiritual teacher and writer in the mid 20th Century, Dean of Howard University Chapel for 12 years, and a theological precursor for the Civil Rights Era. In this sermon, given at Duke University on Jan. 21, 1979 towards the end of his life, he speaks eloquently to a vision of love and human progress that comes from deep within each of us, like the rising of a Gothic arch in a cathedral.
