In January 2020 Matthias visited the Pine Ridge Oglala Lakota Reservation in South Dakota. It had a profound influence on him and he felt called to make an art piece to share his experience. In May 2022 he launched the online exhibit Pine Ridge: Words on the Wind through the Luce Center for Arts & Religion which is a photographic and literary exploration of his experience. He will walk through this project directly during the service.
