A Blackfeet term for “Amen” is “Kamotaani, Kamotaani”, repeated twice, meaning: ‘So that my descendants may live.’ I have recently returned from a writing retreat at the ranch of a respected Elder Blackfeet family in Browning, Montana, and will share some of the lessons I learned there, including how we must live to honor the prayers and sacrifices of our ancestors, and to similarly care for those that will come after us.
