Our worship service, A New Hope, will take as it’s text three poems including the Biden/Harris inaugural poem, “The Hill We Climb”, by youth poet laureate Amanda Gorman. The other two will be Seamus Heaney’s “The Cure of Troy”, said to be a favorite of President Biden, and Amanda Gorman’s “In This Place”. Roy will recite the poems over the course of the service and participants will share their responses to the poems themselves and/or the current political context. Internet links to the poems are provided below for any who wish to read and reflect on them prior to the service:
