Most all of us have heard of the old Greek myth about Persephone, daughter of the grain goddess Demeter, swept off to the realm of the dead. It’s a pastoral tale explaining why the year has seasons. But to the ancient Greeks it was much more than that. Persephone was among the very most revered and worshiped of the gods, her rites as sacred as any in ancient Greek religious life, her story foundational to western culture.
So what ever happened to Persephone? Does her story mean anything to us today? We’ll put our free and responsible search for truth and meaning to work on finding out.
