SCUU.ORG has Technical Difficulties and is Down

Sun, 03/01/2015

Hopefully we can get the site back online soon.

For visitors you may visit our visitor web page --> http://scuu.org/visitors/

Please note: The server is setup to show the "splat" page and not go to a backup web site so that the techies at Entirely Digital can see the issue and resolve it. If we bypass the error in the case of the system being down they can not debug or know what the issue is... Hence the splat page shows all the techie information of the error. The last error during the Great Web Crash of November 2013 resulted in making this change to facilitate resolving the issue. Plus the bypass can cause errors of its own.

The tech representative said they are aware of the problem. It is affecting many customers. We share a server with up to 1300 customers however I think we "only" share with 100 ish customers on our current server based on a conversation I had in 2013.

So the Tech representative says they are aware and they are working on the issue. My guess is that it is migration related.

quite the pain.

This is the first time since November 2013 we've had to make this announcement.

I am arranging my altar to the tech gods. Hopefully that will help too ... I've considered lighting incense.

It is the nature of the cloud beast that we don't have complete control over our environment. There are setting to the server that we are not privy to. Entirely Digital holds the keys to control of the servers.

Nevertheless, quite the pain.

SCUU SNOW WEATHER NEWS!

Sun, 02/22/2015
Current Conditions in pictures ... Driveway
View from Upper Parking lot
View of Upper Parking lot and Yurt
John Plowed Area of Lower Field Too
We Will Have Church Service!!  Rev Megan writes "Hope to see you if you can make it, totally understand if you can't."
Tis 34 degrees the snow is melting in earnest.  The main roads are clear and in some places slushy.  There is no precipitation.  Provided you can shovel out of your own own driveways and neighborhood streets the road is clear.  I was able to drive up in a sedan and not skid at 7:20 am.  The snow is melting fast and the temperature is above freezing.
John P writes at 12:00 am -- "I just finished plowing the church driveway and parking areas.  Rt. 118 is clear but some freezing rain was apparent. I expect all secondary roads will be fine by 10:00 am tomorrow (or today, technically) as it continues to warm."

John P writes at 9:38 pm Saturday -- "If church is on, I will get there early and shovel the walkways and deck."

Thank You John for plowing.  Thank you for shoveling.

SCUU SNOW DAY WEATHER UPDATE!!!

Sat, 02/21/2015

The Fellowship Dinner scheduled for tonight has been postponed -- Karen A. wrote yesterday:

Hello Members and Friends.  We have decided to postpone the Fellowship Dinner scheduled to take place tomorrow, February 21st at 6:30pm at Sugarloaf.    The weather forecast does not look good tomorrow, so we don’t want to risk the safety of our members or volunteers.  We will announce the new date as soon as we can.
Enjoy your weekend and stay warm!
The Plan for Sunday Service will be based on a review at 7 am on Sunday Morning -- The crazy weather forecast says it will warm up overnight and start to rain.  The optimist viewpoint is that all the snow will wash away by 7 am and the road will be passable.  If that is the case we will let you know.  In any event an update will be posted here by 7:30 am ish.
So tonight you would have needed snowshoes and tomorrow you may need an umbrella or skates.
Given that all this is under the heading of weather emergencies you may receive an SCUU email with additional information.
Please put away the snowshoes, stay warm and stay safe.

One Word - Redemption

Mon, 02/02/2015

And never bet against Rev. Megan who truly must be blessed.  To lose twice because of a miracle catch would have been too much.

Please don't misunderstand I would have been fine with it I root for the underdog.

It is against our covenant to deflate a football team's mylar balloon in the Yurt.

Teamwork!

Wed, 01/28/2015

We're a volunteer organization and I think by definition we are therefore a loosely coupled organization. We try to get good mileage with all our options I think it's the hallmark of a loosely coupled organization.
saw this article ...http://www.nytimes.com/2015/01/18/opinion/sunday/why-some-teams-are-smarter-than-others.html

then found this one ..http://www.nytimes.com/2014/04/13/jobs/want-teamwork-encourage-free-speech.html
So free flow of information for self directed and multi level communicating collaborative teams is a good thing.   especially when more than a few are wearing more than one hat ...
A very good idea is to share the hats ...

Blessed are the hat wearers because they get stuff done.
